He describes his experience as very hard. He seems to love the book and he finds it beautiful. He knew it was a big journey for him and he seems to enjoy it. Something that's interesting about his experience with the novel is that he really loves the book. He really understand what the book is about, and he think it's beautiful. He is really passionate about the book and I find that really interesting. If I had to ask him any questions, I would ask him: If you could film the movie again, how would you change it? I would also ask him if he really felt that the movie did justice to the book.
How does Viggo describe his experience making The Road film?
He describes it as being naked on the inside.
What was surprising or interesting about Mortensen's experience with the novel? Explain.
What’s surprising is that his experience is seen by me anyway that it is almost like he has experienced this life himself. The harsh cruel life of people or perhaps it could also be the fact that an actor gets into a character if he/she feels up to it. Also it is because of this that it seems that he developed an emotional understanding for McCarthy’s The Road.
What questions would you ask Mortensen if you were interviewing him about his performance in The Road?
I would ask him what he would do if he had to live through this life himself. Also I would maybe ask him if he would choose to be kind such as he is saying.
When Viggo describes The Road film he explains it so calmly. Like nothing bad happens. " two lonely people being alive is everything to them " Viggo says this, meaning that nothing is more important then being alive and surviving. I found it interesting the way he talked about it. He would explain it like it was nothing to worry about. The question I would ask is " why did you say naked from the inside."
He describes it as being a great experience and was very difficult. It was interesting how much he got from this. I would ask him what he thought about McCarty's reason behind not giving the reader much information about the characters and the setting.
He describes his experience of making the road as interesting because he compared the book to "a flower in the dessert". I think what was surprising was how he was explaining the novel, he sounded really intrigued. If i could ask him one question i would ask him what made him want to make a movie out of this novel? Did he have a similar life experience of being alone?
Viggo describes his experience when making The Road film was he thought he acted exactly how the book was supposed to feel when reading it. An interesting thought about Mortensen's experience with the novel was how dedicated he was to trying to portray the character and how he studied them. He had a book full of posted notes which I thought was pretty interesting. One question I would ask Mortensen would be how he was able to successfully act out playing his part in the movie so well.
He describes it to be very hard. Something that was surprising about him and the novel is how much he understood the book. It's like he understands what the boy and the man are going through. I would ask him if he's possibly been through a similar situation. I would also ask him how hard or easy it was to get into character,
Viggo Describes his Experiance as being a labor of love and something he is pashanet about. it was differcalt to get what he wonted and he dident get exactly what he wonted but he still worked hard for it becase he realy wonted to put the emotons of the book into the move. I like he,s vuw on the noval with it being that thay keep the human emoton and kind niss as being what lead to thare being an uplefting ending that realy inforses the wont to be good. a queston i would wont to ask is if he thinks that good niss and kind niss and stuff like that are reworded like he say,s it is in the book
Viggo describes his experience making The Road film is that he was naked from the inside. Meaning he had to put more emotion that he probable felt at one time or not at all. Also he says how it was as difficult as it should have been. Getting the emotion right, making the setting right. What was interesting bout his experience with the novel was when he was talking about how everything that happened in the past like forgetting a line, you can't worry about that. to love the simple stuff, and live in the present. A question I would ask is was there any emotions in the novel that you felt in your past?
Viggo desrcibes his experience making the road film as being very interesting and learning a lot about life in general . He says the setting is two lonely people understand that having each other is enough . That is a important lesson to learn. The thing that I find interesting about Mortensen's experience is when he says it was as difficult as it should have been .I find this interesting because it helps us to understand that the father and little boy have to go through a lot .
He describes his experience like being naked on the inside, this means that he felt very exposed with his feelings. What's surprising about Mortensen's experience is that he was so calm with how he describes the book and his experiences. I would ask him, "did other people notice changes in your behavior outside of the stage while you were acting as this character?"
Viggo described his experience making "The Road" film as "as difficult as it should have been." It was a hard novel to him to act since he has to show so much depression while showing a survival experience so advanced of what the man has. I found it interesting when Viggo said the "kindness is fire". I found it almost like a dangerous and yet useful source can be used in both good and evil. If I could ask Viggo questions I would ask him why did he want to do the film? Also why was he only satisfied and at the end said it was beautiful? (was he trying to contradict himself).
Viggo seems very intrigued that he was able to play the role of the father he seems so intrigued and fascinated by the book. I thought it was interesting how he had so many sticky notes throughout his book to as it seems really get a feel for his character so he could play his role to the best of his ability. If I could ask him any question it would be: Was the feeling of playing the father real? Did you feel what the father would feel as you filmed?
Viggo Mortensen describes his experience with making the film The Road almost life changing. Instead of saying it was just another movie, filming this made him dig deep and really pull out all the stops in order to portray The Road as well as Cormac McCarthy did in the actual novel. Mortensen's experience with the novel was interesting because as you could see he had many sticky notes in the book and he even picked out some of his favorite quotes describing the land of complete despair. If I had to interview Mortensen about his performance in The Road, I would ask him how he put himself in the mindset of a post apocalyptic world without actually being in it. Another question would be how reading the book helped him act out the character of the father better.
He described it as very difficult, it made them feel naked from the inside, and they expected it to be difficult. What i found surprising was how he connected with the novel, and it seems like he now appreciates life more than ever. What particular parts did you find difficult? Did you ever imaging what you were acting was real?
Viggo describes his experience making The Road film as an emotional and challenging journey. He explains it this way because he became emotionally attached to the making of this film and very enthusiastic about the script. He also says that it was as challenging as he thought it was going to be, because he was trying to make everything spot on and as perfect as it was in the book. Some of the questions that I would ask him, Why would you become so attached to this one film to the point where it gives you emotional pain or distress? I would also ask him, How did the outcome of the film hit you all at once?
Viggo describes many things about this book. He described the way the man was against the world. He compared the man and the boy to "Flowers in the desert." He also said that the book was "as difficult as it should have been." meaning that the book created such a gloomy depressing tone, and if he didn't remake that tone in the movie that it wouldn't be successful, and he has to work with music, actions, and words to develop the tone in the movie while Cormac McCarthy only had to work with words. A question I would ask Viggo is "When creating this movie, what parts besides tone did you try and hold true from the novel to the movie?"
Viggo describes his experience as it being very difficult. He says that filming this was difficult as it should have been. It seemed that he has a sort of passion for this whole role in the film and he was very entitled to it. I was surprised that his own book had many post its probably referring to important pieces he could enhance in the film to help show more of a connection to the book. He uses many comparisons like the flower in the desert. A question that I would ask Mortenson is " If you were the director for the film as well, how would you direct the movie to more fit it to the book and your connections?"
He described his experience as as difficult as it should be and making him feel naked from the inside. What's interesting is that the book had left him with a totally new prospective on life and this book has made him appreciate the things he has. I would ask him who he would want with him if he was going through the things in the book just like the man.
Viggo describes his experience as difficult but rewarding. Trying to match the film to the movie can be very hard. He describes lying in bed and thinking of great lines and then forgetting the next morning. I would ask him if the novel or the film gave him a better understanding of The Road story.
How Viggo describes his experience making "The Road" film is he said it makes you feel naked from the inside, the flower in the desert, and the quote he read from the book, "The frailty of everything revealed at last." What was interesting about Mortensen's exprience with the novel, he likes how MacCarthy writes the book and how he describe things to get a better image. What I would ask Mortensen if I was interviewing him about this perfromance in "The Road" is what would you add or change to the film?
He says that in the movie he was “naked from the inside out”. I took this to mean that he had to start on a fresh slate and create the character from scratch. He also says that making it was “as difficult as it should have been”. to me, this meant that to make a really good film that is the same as the book, you have to try really hard, and it is really difficult to do right from the get-go. Also, I think that he is saying that it is hard to make a movie based on a good book, and it was very hard to make this movie, so he is saying that McCarthy’s book is great. I would ask him what he thinks the biggest part of survival is in The Road.
He said it was as hard as it should have been, and that while most films made him think it could be better, The Road was as good as it could be. What is interesting about his experience with The Road is he talks about the difference, in my words, between surviving and living. If you choose to survive, there must be more to life that makes you carry on, and do what is hard. I would ask him how he connected personally to the man.
Viggo says that in the movie he was "Naked from the inside out". What I think this means is that in The Road you don't really know a lot about the man and the boy, it's hard to act out a character that you don't really know a lot about, in other movies actors need to get to know there characters so they can play them well, in the movie Viggo basically makes this character into an actual person. A question I would as Viggo would be if it was hard to be this character in the movie.
He states that in the movie it was like he was naked from the inside out. So basically he felt like his feelings were really exposed, I observed that he was very calm in the video which was sort of surprising because his roll was going through a lot in the apocalyptic world. I found it surprising that he said kind is like that one flower in the dessert. If i could ask him one question it would be did you change at all after playing that roll?
Viggio finds the experience making the film very difficult since it is a heavy emotional journey. We can see that his a heavy emotional journey since he even says that "I was naked from the inside out" meaning that it he's thrown into the movie and his only companion in the movie is the book. I find it interesting that he can connect the book with human nature since he connects McCarthy stating that "The rarity of everything revealed at last" which connects with human nature because we tend to look for beauty in everything. I would ask him if he has ever looked for beauty and found it in a place where their was no obvious beauty.
Viggo describes being an actor in the road naked from the inside out. It was as hard as it should have been for him and he talks about how his only companion in this entire film was this little boy and everything else was in ruins it was like an emotional roller coaster because of how lonely he was.
Viggo describes the journey of filming the book The Road difficult, he says "its as difficult as it should have been". I found the way Viggo talked about this book really interesting because he was so calm and sounded so intrigued like it impacted his life alot. If i was going to ask him anything i would have asked him if he got anything out of this like did it change him personally in any way
Viggo describes he that while making the movie he was naked from the inside out. When making the movie Viggo had to be very emotional and he also believed that it was a very hard role to play. I think when he says he was naked from the inside out because all he could use in the movie was his emotions and his soul was out in the open and for everyone to see. I liked when Viggo said the "the one flower in the desert" because I feel this really represents the boys presences in the book. The quote is saying that the flower is something beautiful in a not so beautiful world. The boy is the same as the flower because he made the man's life a little better during the post apocalyptic world. If I could ask Viggo a question I would as him if producing the movie made him learn more about himself and the his emotions.
What would you actually do if you were in those situations? Would you help those people or would you not help those people? One of the questions that I would ask him, Why would you become so attached to this one film to the point where it gives you emotional pain or distress? I would also ask him, How did the outcome of the film hit you all at once?
Viggo describes the movie as being "naked from the inside out". What he means by this is that he was thrown into the world the boy was in. He felt serious despair, and began to understand exactly what the boy was going through. His soul was open to such horrors and he was the little "flower" boy. What I found interesting was that the man said the importance is staying alive, and no matter how bad life may seem just keep trying to stay alive. If I could ask the man anything I would ask him "which scenes did he think was the hardest for him"?.
Viggo describes the movie as being naked from the inside out what he means by that is that he as a director felt what was going on while he read the book and knew what he needed to put into the movie. I found it interesting on how much he loved the book and I feel that Viggo as a director pictured exactly what he wanted to put into the book as he read it. I would ask Viggo if he as he read pictured what he needs to put into the movie to make his audience feel what he felt while he was reading the book.
